Amanda was raised in Prescott enjoying the outdoors. Amanda has over 25 years of experience working in the outdoor industry. She has been the buyer for the Hike shack since it opened and enjoys selling the gear she uses to her community. She love supporting local vendors, and is always looking to do business with companies that have environmentally responsible business practices, creating outdoor gear that is made to perform and last. Her outdoor activities expand every chance she gets. She is an avid hiker and thoroughly enjoys trail running with her heelers Pipp and Dulce, mountain biking in the hills, backpacking in the wilderness, hunting with her bow, riding her dirt bike, and climbing outdoors and paddling on the lake. She has a wealth of trail and equipment knowledge that she enjoys sharing with her employees and guests at the shop. She has also shared her knowledge in her articles in the Prescott Women magazine where her stories have been published for over a decade.
Cal has been in Prescott since 2008. After successful thru-hikes of the Appalachian and Pacific Crest Trails, he moved to Arizona from Michigan to pursue his teaching degree from Prescott College. Now a true desert rat, when he's not teaching, you can find Cal hitting the mountain biking trails around Prescott or in the Grand Canyon as a whitewater river guide.
Andy moved to Arizona after college and a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail. He also teaches, and can often be found running the trails and climbing the rocks around Prescott with his dog. He loves finding new adventures and learning about science and nature.
Margaret loves the silent sports; hiking, running, biking, kayaking, and camping. Her passion is road biking, the longer the better! Other pursuits are baking, reading, sewing and flute playing. The Hike Shack is a great place to work, with amazing owners and fun, knowledgeable coworkers.
Michelle has grown up hiking, camping and backpacking with her family. Since her move from Texas to Prescott she has enjoyed exploring the trails in the area. Her favorite trail is Salida Gulch. She enjoys running, and swimming and is headed to Clemson University this fall where she will study Biology on the pre-dental track. She plans to do lots of hiking and backpacking in the Smokey Mountains and Blue Ridge Mountains.
Ben is going to NAU to study environmental science. He's grown up camping, boating, and climbing in Arizona and all around Prescott. He loves the rain and water in the desert and his favorite place to do in Prescott is bouldering in Groom Creek
Hannah attends Embry Riddle and is pursuing a major in Air Traffic Control with a minor in drones. She enjoys rock climbing and surfing with a good iced chai in her hand. Her favorite trail is the 307 trail because it's so secluded and has lots of beautiful trees.
Growing up on a farm and adventuring out into the literal middle of nowhere sparked Ryanne's passion for the outdoors and all wildlife. At ASU, she earned a degree in Parks and Recreation and spent her time as an animal handler at the Phoenix Zoo. When she's not at the shop, she enjoys her time exploring, hiking, surfing, picking up rocks and lizards, and watching Mamma Mia with her husband Caleb, Lance the dog, Bingo the pup and her bearded dragon Lizzie.
Lucy has enjoyed the Hike Shack from its beginning in 2003. It has provided her with high quality foot wear and gear for her many adventures backpacking in the Grand Canyon and many other great places. Lucy's favorite local trail is the Spruce Mountain loop. After 31 years in an office she enjoys hearing all the adventures others have traveled. Helping you find the footwear and the gear you want is a pleasure! Happy Trails!
Amanda is a junior at Embry Riddle, playing volleyball and trying to be a rocket scientist. Her love of the outdoors came from growing up in Idaho and Montana, so she's still acclimating to the Arizona heat and lack of snowy mountain ranges. Amanda loves skiing and scuba diving whenever she gets the chance and is currently working on a private pilot's license. Her favorite hiking spot is near Thumb Butte, perfect for hammocking, camping, and watching the sunset.
Galen is from Northern California and found a new love for the desert when he moved to Prescott. He is a sophomore at Prescott College, studying Environmental Science and Adventure Education, and is a passionate outdoor enthusiast who loves hiking, biking, skiing, climbing, and mountaineering. Galen's favorite spot to hang out is Shady Grove in the Dells.
Caleb is a born and raised Prescottonian. He has spent his life learning the trails, playing on the lakes, and climbing all of the rocks found in Prescott. He has since gone away to Flagstaff, received a degree in Parks and Recreations Management, and returned to his hometown. He spends most of his time these days working at the shack with his wife Ryanne, managing his garden and playing with his dog Lancelot.
Cameron landed in Prescott after years of bouncing around the country doing various jobs, of which his favorite were the years he spent as a climbing guide. When he isn't in the hike shack nerding out about gear and shoes, he can be found hiking, climbing, birding, and learning plant identification around the local area and often visits Mexico to research invertebrates (specifically crabs).
